Rapa Nui

Rapa Nui (also known as Easter Island) is located in the south Pacific Ocean. It is 2,000 miles away from Chile's coastline. Rapa Nui is surrounded by moai(statues) as you can see in the picture to the right. Scientists think that the moai were built, moved, and erected somewhere between 1400AD and 1600AD. Archaeologists believe the moai represent the spirits of ancestors, chiefs, or any other men who had important positions in Easter Island's history, or Rapa Nui.
This is a map of Rapa Nui (Easter Island)
These pictures are a few of the moai losated on the island.
